Which institutions host the First Avenue Career Expo?

Lewis & Clark College, Linfield College, Marylhurst University, Pacific University, University of Portland, and Willamette University host this event

Where and when is the First Avenue Career Expo?

The 2018 fair will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Chiles Center on the University of Portland campus. During this time you have an opportunity to meet with students about full-time/career positions, internships, summer jobs, and graduate school opportunities.

Is this fair for seniors only?

No.  All undergraduate students are invited as well as alumni of the host schools who have graduated within the past ten years.

How many students can I expect to meet?

Typically between 300 and 500 students participate in the First Avenue Career Expo.  In 2018 we had more than 400 students in attendance.

Can I hire for internships, part-time and summer positions?

Yes.  Many students will be at the Expo seeking these positions.

Will I meet students seeking entry-level positions?

There will be many soon-to-be graduates and recent alumni seeking full-time positions.

Is food provided?

A buffet lunch is provided.

How much room will I have for my display?

Each organization will be provided a 6 foot table with a tablecloth. We kindly ask that larger booths and displays be saved for a different event.

 Can my organization sponsor the Expo?

Organizations are welcome to sponsor the Expo. As a sponsoring organization, you will receive registration to the fair, exhibitor preferred location, and advanced acknowledgement on the First Avenue website and mobile app, and first 6  sponsors receive a reserved parking space in the main lot closest to Chiles (reserved until 10:30 a.m.). How do I publicize career opportunities with my organization?

You will be asked for available openings during the registration process.  A link to your organization’s website and a general list of job types available will appear within your profile on the mobile app and website.  Attendees are encouraged to visit your booth explore your openings further. 

Should I attend even if my company does not have job openings?

Yes.  You are encouraged to participate even if your company does not currently have any job openings.  This is a great opportunity to connect with 300 – 500 students.

What is OLAPC?

OLAPC stands for Oregon Liberal Arts Placement Consortium.  It is a cooperative organization founded in 1989 to enhance the career services offered by member institutions. The primary goal of the organization is to organize the annual First Avenue Career Expo.
